01.Project Features
The Chinese language programme, supplemented by the ‘Chinese + Vocational Skills’ programme, is designed to consolidate the language foundation and to teach the professional basics as appropriate, in order to prepare the students to enter the undergraduate level. The curriculum includes four levels of Chinese language courses: basic, elementary, intermediate and advanced, as well as professional foundation courses. At the same time, a series of lectures on China's national conditions and Chinese culture are offered, and cultural visits are organised in and out of Shandong Province.
02. Programme and Activities
A.Curriculum
-Course Type: Integrated Chinese Language Course, ‘Chinese + Vocational Skills’ Course
Class Mode: On-campus and offline classes at Binzhou Polytechnic.
-Course schedule:
a) Comprehensive Chinese Course: Monday to Friday, 14-18 hours/week.
b) ‘Chinese + Vocational Skills’ course: Monday to Friday, 4 hours/week (including visits to Chinese enterprises).
B. Introduction to Classes
-Comprehensive Chinese: Focuses on improving students‘ written expression ability; through learning Chinese vocabulary and grammar, and strengthening the training of reading and writing skills, it enhances students’ comprehensive Chinese ability.
-Chinese Listening and Speaking: focuses on improving students‘ oral expression skills; through the study of commonly used vocabulary and sentence patterns in spoken Chinese, it improves students’ Chinese communication skills.
C.Classification Principles
Classes are divided according to Chinese language level
Beginner (enrolment in September every year, duration of study is 2 semesters)
This class is for learners who have no previous knowledge of Chinese. The teaching content is mainly Hanyu Pinyin, basic Chinese characters, basic Chinese grammar and commonly used words, which improves the students' ability in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Intermediate (enrolled in March every year, course duration: 1 semester)
For learners with a Chinese vocabulary of about 1200 words. Students will expand their vocabulary and be able to use Chinese accurately and skilfully in life, study, work and other communicative activities, and be able to express themselves in paragraphs.
Advanced (enrolment in March every year, duration: 1 semester)
For Chinese learners with a vocabulary of about 2,500 words to further expand their vocabulary and be able to use Chinese in a more accurate, skilful and appropriate way to communicate and discuss a wide range of social topics.
D.Class Size
Each class has 10-20 students. In order to make the best use of quality resources, classes with less than 10 students at the same level will be cancelled and students will be required to change to other programs or courses. We will make announcements based on registration information, so please keep an eye on our website.
E.‘Chinese + Vocational Skills’ Programme Arrangements
Skills programmes are elective courses and students can take ‘Chinese + Computer’, ‘Chinese + Industrial Robotics’, ‘Chinese + Bio-engineering’, ‘Chinese+Architectural Design’ and so on. The school makes plans for elective courses at the beginning of the semester, and classes can be held if the number of electives is more than 8, but not if the number of electives is less than 8.
F.‘Dialogue with Master Teachers’ English Lecture Series
This series of lectures will invite renowned professors who have a long history of Chinese language teaching, cultural studies, specialised fields of teaching and international exchange experience to give exciting lectures in English.
Lecture period: 1 lecture per month, each lecture counts for 1.5 hours, and the specific arrangement will be informed after admission.
Lecture Topics: Chinese history and culture, language learning methods, cutting-edge theories in professional fields, and many other topics.
Lecture Language: English
Lecture Certificate: Participants who have attended more than 75% of the lectures in the time slot they have applied for will receive a certificate of further study containing information on the number of hours they have attended.
G.Transcripts & Certificates
a) Participants should not be late, leave early, or be absent.
b) For reasons of not being able to attend class, you need to ask for leave of absence (casual leave/sick leave).
c) Late or early departure 3 times counts as one absence from class, one absence from class will deduct 1 point from the grade in the examination, sick leave with a doctor's note will not be deducted, without a doctor's note as a colleague's leave, and 0.5 points will be deducted from one absence on leave of absence (one absence refers to 2 credit hours).
d) If the total number of absences in a course reaches or exceeds one-fourth of the total number of hours of the course, the student will not be able to get the grade of the course; if the number of absences reaches or exceeds 10% of the total number of hours of the semester, the student will lose the qualification of being recommended by the school. No certificate of completion will be issued in either case.
e) The total grade of completion consists of three parts: the final examination grade of the course, the usual grade and the attendance.
f) After the completion of the course, Binzhou Polytechnic will issue a certificate of completion and an official transcript for the students who meet the completion requirements.

04.Visa, Insurance & Accommodation
A.Requirements for coming to school
(a) Entering the country with a valid study visa or permanent residence permit for foreigners.
(b) Students must strictly abide by the school rules and regulations and other relevant regulations during their study period.
B.Visa & Insurance
(a) Visa: Admitted students must apply for a study visa in China at the Chinese Embassy (Consulate) in the applicant's country with the acceptance letter and the application form for study visa in China (JW202). International students studying in China for less than 6 months must apply for X2 visa; those studying for more than 6 months must apply for X1 visa and apply for residence permit within 30 days after arrival in China.
b) Insurance: International students must be insured in accordance with relevant national regulations and school requirements. Students are required to purchase insurance in China before the start of the programme or within the stipulated period.
C.On-campus Accommodation
Binzhou Polytechnic offers on-campus housing.
05.Application
A.Eligibility
(a) In principle, applicants are required to be between the ages of 17 and 23, physically and mentally healthy, of good character, in compliance with the relevant provisions of the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, holders of valid foreign passports of non-Chinese nationality, and with no record of criminal offences.
Note: Whether an applicant with foreign nationality has the nationality of the People's Republic of China at the same time is subject to the conclusion of the nationality determination by the Exit-Entry Administration Department of the Public Security Organs of the People's Republic of China. If the applicant is found to have Chinese nationality after application, admission and enrolment, the eligibility for application, admission, enrolment registration, study qualification or student status will be cancelled.
b) Have a full-time senior high school graduation degree (excluding Chinese general senior high schools), and in principle, the primary to senior high school stages should be cultivated by the overseas basic education system;
c) Applicants with the following conditions please note that the following conditions must be met:
For applicants who are residents of the mainland of China (Mainland), Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan and have emigrated and acquired foreign nationality as foreign students and applicants whose parents or one of them is a Chinese citizen and has settled in a foreign country and who have had a foreign nationality at the time of his/her birth, for the admission requirements, please refer to the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China https://www.gov.cn/banshi/2005-08/02/content_19458.htm and the Circular of the Ministry of Education on the Regulation of the Acceptance of International Students by Higher Education Institutions.

B.Application Period
a) For one academic year projects (September each year - June the following year), the application period is from 1 March to 30 June each year;
b) For one-semester projects (March each year - June of the current year), the application period is from 15 October to 31 December each year.
Note: Applicants should complete their applications and submit all documents at least two weeks before the application deadline. Places are limited and will be filled on the basis of merit.

c)High school diploma or pre-graduation certificate (must be stamped with the school's official seal);

e)Personal statement in Chinese/English;
It is recommended to provide the following: (1) personal introduction; (2) knowledge of China and Binzhou Polytechnic; (3) knowledge of the declared major (academic students); (4) study plan.
f)Certificate of language proficiency;
Applicants for one semester of study (March intake) are required to submit an HSK score report or a certificate of Chinese language proficiency (the HSK score report is valid for two years; the certificate of Chinese language proficiency must be a letter from the school, which must be signed and stamped with the school's official seal).
g)Physical examination form for foreigners;
Applicants shall strictly follow the items required in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The Foreigner Physical Examination Form is invalid if there are missing items, if the applicant's photo is not affixed or if the photo is not stamped with a rider seal, or if it is not signed and stamped by a physician and a hospital. The results of the examination are valid for six months (must be within the validity period at the time of application).
h) Certificate of no criminal record (must be valid at the time of application); i) Scanned copy of the Financial Guarantee for International Students and its guarantee materials;
i) The financial guarantee documents include: (1) The International Student Financial Guarantee must be completed in Chinese or English; (2) the certificate of deposit that can guarantee the reasonable expenses of study, living and international travelling during the student's study in China; and (3) the scanned copy of the passport or identity certificate of the financial guarantor (limited to the applicant himself or herself or his/her immediate family members).
j) Applicants who are already studying in other universities in China are required to provide a letter of recommendation from the international student office or faculty of the university they belong to, with the contact information of the recommending organisation stated on the letter;
k) Applicants under the age of 18 must submit supporting documents;
l) Applicants mentioned in the document ‘Notice of the Ministry of Education on Regulating the Work Related to the Acceptance of International Students in Our Institutions of Higher Education’ (《Education and Foreign Affairs Letter〔2020〕 No.12) are required to submit relevant supporting documents.
06. Application Instructions
(1) All documents uploaded must be in Chinese or English. For documents in other languages, the original of the document and the notarised copy of the English or Chinese translation must be uploaded at the same time. Please upload the relevant documents after scanning them in colour with a scanner. Documents taken by mobile phones or cameras will not be accepted, and photocopies will not be accepted. Except for the Physical Examination Form for Foreigners and the signature of an individual, which can appear in handwriting, handwriting will not be accepted for all the documents provided.
(2) The university will not accept the application if it is incomplete.
(3) The University reserves the right to request some applicants to provide the original/notarised written version of the application materials or certified documents issued by designated certification bodies for further checking.
(4) Applicants should ensure that the application information and application materials provided are true and accurate. If they are verified as untrue by the admission unit or the certification authority, they will be disqualified from application, admission or study.
(5) Whether an applicant with foreign nationality has the nationality of the People's Republic of China at the same time shall be subject to the conclusion of the nationality determination by the Exit-Entry Administration of the public security organs of China. If the applicant is found to have Chinese nationality after application, admission and enrollment, the application, admission or study qualification will be cancelled.
07.Enrollment
Registration of admitted students must be strictly in accordance with the time specified in the admission notice to Binzhou Polytechnic to report for registration. The original graduation certificate and other materials will be verified at the time of reporting.
08.Tuition and other fees
(1) Application fee: 500 RMB (application is invalid without payment of the application fee, which is non-refundable once paid), which will be credited against the accommodation fee upon arrival.
(2) Tuition fee: RMB 3,000/semester, RMB 6,000/academic year;
(3) Medical insurance fee: RMB 400-800, according to the actual charges of insurance companies. The cost of insurance is charged in advance after acceptance is confirmed.
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education of China, international students coming to China are required to purchase medical insurance in China. For students who do not purchase medical insurance as required, the school will not process the registration procedure. (4) Accommodation Fee: Double room: RMB 2000/semester, 4000/academic year.
(5) 400 RMB for residence permit. The residence permit will be processed within two weeks of enrolment, and students will pay the fee on their own at the site of processing, and will be responsible for their own travelling expenses.
09.Required documents for check-in
(1) Passport
(2) Original Certificate of No Criminal Conviction
(3) Original medical examination form. Those who do not have the original medical examination form will not be allowed to enter the school. Students should go to Jinan Physical Examination Centre by themselves to complete the physical examination. The cost of the physical examination is 601 RMB, which students should pay to the hospital by themselves, and they should bring their own change, as the hospital will not give any change for the physical examination. Those who pass the physical examination will be allowed to enter the university, and they will be responsible for their own travelling, accommodation and meal expenses during the period of physical examination.
